Samuel Savarino serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Savarino Companies. Since it was formed in January of 2001, Savarino Companies has grown to be one of Western New York's leading general contracting, construction management and development firms. He is also the managing member of an affiliated company, TSC Construction, LLC which provides full services for infrastructure and tower construction to the wireless telecommunications industry throughout the eastern half of the United States.
Prior to forming Savarino Companies, formerly known as Savarino Construction Services Corp., Savarino served as Chief Executive Officer at ADF Construction Corp. of Amherst, NY. Under his leadership, ADF grew from a small, family-owned construction firm to a large and respected full-service construction company that successfully completed many landmark projects throughout Western New York. Savarino assumed direct responsibility for the successful renovation of Ralph Wilson Stadium for the Buffalo Bills during a highly compressed schedule between the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
Samuel Savarino is a graduate of the Leadership Buffalo Class of 1995 and is a member of the Buffalo Club and the Park Country Club of Buffalo. He is active in many industry related organizations, and is certified by the Construction Specifications Institute as both a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and a Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA).
Savarino is active in many civic and non-profit organizations including: D'Youville College (Trustee), Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center (Director), and the YMCA of Greater Buffalo (Director. He is also a Regent Emeritus of Canisius College.
Savarino is a former advisor to the Construction Technology Program at Erie Community College, a former director of EPIC-Effective Parenting Information for Children, a former Member of the Board of Advisors for The State University of New York at Buffalo Center for the Arts, a former Trustee of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, a former Trustee of Christ the King Seminary, a former Trustee of Medaille College, a former Board member of the Industries for the Blind of New York State, former Chairman of Campaign 2000 for the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, former Chairman of the Board of Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, the former Chairman of the Western New York Rare Book Consortium, a former Board Member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Western New York, the former Founding Chairman of the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center Foundation, former Chairman of the 2005 Capital Campaign for the Food Bank of Western New York, former Board Member of the Landmark Society of Greater Buffalo, and, former Board Member of the Women's and Children's Hospital Foundation of Western New York. Trustee and Chariman of Sankofa Charter School, former Director and Vice Chair of the Board of The Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society and former member of the Board of the Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation. Samuel Savarino thrice served as Co-Chairman of the annual Charity Golf Tournament for People, Inc., was twice Chairman of the Children's Hospital of Buffalo Pro-Am Golf Tournament and was thrice Chairman of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Golf Classic - raising $650,000 in funds for these organizations. He was Chairman of the 2002 Humanitarian Award Dinner for the Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation. He and his wife Anne are the former Co-Chairs of both the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Ball and the Canisius College Regents Scholarship Ball. Both Sam and Anne Savarino are members of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County and have served as Co-Chairs on the large gift division of the 2003 and 2004 United Way Campaign, and in 2005 and 2006 they served as Co-Chairs of the United Way Campaign in Western New York.
Among his awards for community involvement, Samuel Savarino received the 1999 Magavern Community Service Award, and the 2000 Advocacy Award from the Olmsted Parks Conservancy. He was a Distinguished Honoree of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives in 1998 and in 2003 was named Philanthropist of the Year by that organization. In 2005 he received recognition from the National Football League and the Buffalo Bills for his volunteer efforts in the Western New York Community. Also in 2005, the Healthy Community Alliance honored him with the Community Service Award; the Food Bank of Western New York presented him with the Distinguished Community Service Award; and, D'Youville College honored him with the 2005 Community Service Award. The Niagara Lutheran Health Foundation recognized him with the 2007 Humanitarian Award. For his accomplishments, Samuel Savarino accepted a Forty Under 40 Award from Business First of Buffalo in 1995 and was a torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
