HOWARD HURST, Director of Finance - Mr. Hurst has acquired extensive experience in all aspects of the real estate industry. As President of York Trillium Development Corporation from 1984 to 1996, he developed major commercial, industrial, and residential projects in Canada and the United States, including the York Mills Centre, a 1.2 Million SF mixed-use commercial and transportation complex encompassing the construction of two enclosed bus terminals integrated with a major subway station. From 1974 until 1984, Mr. Hurst was a participant in the High Glen/Rossland Group, an international Toronto-based real estate development firm. As Chief Executive Officer, he managed its extensive operations including shopping centers, hotels, timeshare developments, residential communities and commercial developments throughout Canada and the United States. During the 1970’s he worked with the Canadian Government, various Canadian corporations, and Siemens GMbh to negotiate a contract to provide the Soviet Union with Pipeline Valves and Actuators for their Trans-Siberian Pipeline. His other ventures include production of on-line and video management seminars for the insurance and financial industries in conjunction with the University of Waterloo, Canada and Lloyds’ of London. During the 1990’s, he produced and financed a series of Motion Pictures, Television series, and Broadway Theatrical Plays. Mr. Hurst’s achievements include:
- Special consultant to the Federal Government of Canada specializing in their DREE (Department of Regional Economic Expansion) program (Appointed 1972-1975)
- The appointment as Financial Liaison and Officer of the Time Sharing Council of North America
- Development of a proprietary raised under-floor HVAC access system for commercial office buildings to allow for integration of 21st Century Technology
- Winner of the Carnegie University Award for Specialized International Office Complexes
- Member of the Carnegie University Commission Studying the Effect on Office Buildings and their Populations in the 21st Century
- Presented a Special Achievement Award at the 1988 Gemini Awards by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television
